quick n easy question

when using a c clamp to push the pistions back in to the caliper for new pads do you need to open the bleeder valve.. i was told locally that if i didnt open the valve it could damage the pistons ...

As long as you do it slowly, it will be fine. The fluid will be forced back through the hydraulic system. If you are compressing dual piston calipers, use something to lay across the pistons to compress them at the same time, like an old brake pad etc. Hope this helps.

You want to take the cover off of the brake fluid reservoir and put a rag around it to catch any fluid that overflows, thats the way I have always done it.
