Default 4 piston calipers

Has anybody used the force 10 kit with 4 piston calipers from stainles steel brake co.

their part number for the front kit on a 98-02 fbody is A123-9. I talked to them and the rotors are C5 corvette and they say that the calipers bolt to the stock mounting points.

If anybody has any experience with these guys please let me know.

I agree, someone should take one for the team and see if it's any good. This would be a good alternate for the LG C5 brake kit.

If this is a decent alternative to a C5 conversion, then will it accept OEM blank rotors like a C5 kit?

from the discussions I have had with them it is a stock c5 rotor from any auto parts store. It is for the ease of getting pads, rotors and caliper rebuild kits is why I am looking at these.

Sounds good, D. If you can, get all the caliper/piston dimensions, that way we can calculate fluid volume differences and how it would shift the brake bias.

I am not sure of the fluid volume but the pistons are 43 mm each x4

Awww man, now we need trackbird to supply the other dimensions as I don't have them on me :-D, He's done this with other brake calipers... I need a bigger tech databse on my computer!

Oh if they know anything about the fluid volume requirements compared to stock, it would save us the math.

The bias will shift slightly forward. Without running the numbers I can say that the stock fronts on an LS1 are 44mm (floating calipers are calculated by considering that as 4 pistons at 44mm each). The stock Corvette (C5) are 40mm pistons, but they have the mechanical advantage of the larger rotor, so it's roughly equivalent to the LS1 setup as far as bias is concerned. This is the C5 rotor with just slightly less piston area than the LS1 caliper. So, the bias will be similar to using the LG C5 conversion with the LS1 calipers. That should pull things slightly forward (I'm too lazy to break out the calculator right now).

So, you'll shift the bias to the front with that kit (somewhat).

FWIW, I talked to them a while back about their 3-piston vs. 4 piston kit. I don't recall why, but they recommended the 3-piston kit over the 4-piston kit. I talked to one of their guys on Power Tour and, again, he recommended the 3-piston kit. He mentioned that the 3-piston kit uses Corvette pads. I'm kinda leaning that way right now.

What do they mean "will not fit stock wheels"? Do they mean the factory 16"s or factory SS or WS6 17"s?

I was told that either kit would clear my CCW 17" wheels. They sent me a drawing of the 4-piston caliper that I forwarded to CCW when I ordered the wheels just to make sure.

Cool, still leaves the dust (now that I spell it right) and weather seals Q to be answered. Anyone?
