Angry klunk

installed bilstein hd rears two weeks ago!

now i've got kind of a klunk every time i go over a bad bump,

which there are a million a mile.

sounds like tail pipe hitting something lightly,

but was up in the air last week and everythings tight.

so ordered lca's, try that... but does anyone have any suggestions

or do i just keep throwing money at it until it goes away?

Do you have an adjustable panhard rod? If so, make sure the jamb nuts are on tight (and loc-tite them). Mine loosened and it drove me nuts (no pun intended).

Did you change anything else when you changed the shocks?

Did you make sure the top of the shock is tight too? *shrugs* Maybe I'm just tired but I'm somewhat at a loss on this one.

hmmmmmm...What about your springs? Did they move around at all when you installed the shocks. I doubt they're rubbing, but check and see if there is anything that looks like it might have rubbed. Is it at all possible your new shocks are bottoming out? Could be the bump stop...

thanks for the help!

just checked top shock mounts, got maybe half a turn out of it.

springs could'nt have moved, car was on ramps and used floor jack to compress shocks

wierd **** like this always happens to me.

start with lca's and go from there.

guess i'm getting my rear suspension done.

thanks

Every suspension joint needs to be checked for
tightness. Panhard upper & lower, LCA front & rear,
the spare tire & jack in the well, blah blah blah. If
you get the rear up on ramps and push the car L/R,
U/D vigorously you should be able to hear the loose
piece. It's not the hard parts that make noise, it's
the slack in the mounts / joints / adjusts.
