Default HELP - ASR/Traction Control Problems!!!

hello all, this is my first post here, i never even knew they had an LT1 section here! ahha

anyway..here goes:

I installed lowering springs about 2 weeks ago and now every time i start up my car and try to drive off, my "LOW TRACTION" light starts blinking and applies brakes.

I am not dumping it lol :p

Only thing that I could think of is the following:

1) when we were putting the driver side spring in we had to lift the master cylinder about half an inch (didn't know you could remove it without bleeding the brakes after) so maybe i messed something up while it was being pulled up a bit? highly doubt it though

OR (this is the one that i think it is)

2) when we removed all the crap out of the way to install the springs...the speed sensors were removed so the wiring wouldn't get too much street put on it. could it be that either a) dirt got in the sensor. or b) sensor is not aligned properly?

if you have any other suggestions, please let me know. i haven't really tried anything to fix it yet

I didn't know '97s had traction control but I'd look
at the wheel sensors and make sure they are as
close to the reluctor choppers as they can get
without scrubbing. Maybe pull & reseat connectors
checking for pushed-out pins as you go, also.
If it's 3-channel ABS then there is one sensor in
the pumpkin, maybe at full rear drop you pulled
that loose or something.

Cars with ASR have the four-channel setup. If the system is actually coming on then I doubt the wiring is damaged. It sounds like one of the sensors isn't installed all the way in. As soon as the wheels start to turn the sensors are sending different signals (one is correct but the other is indicating a slower speed because it isn't generating the voltage due to it being too far from the reluctor ring on the axle). If the brakes are coming on, feel which rear rotor is heating up. The problem will be with the sensor on the opposite side (the one reading slow). Check to make sure the sensor is installed all the way in and that the connector is fully seated. Check for dirt in the connector, too. It is possible that the sensor was damaged when you took it out, especially if you had to pry it with any amount of force. If you don't find anything physically wrong, swap the wheel speed sensors from side to side and see if the opposite rotor starts to heat up, indicating that that side is now being braked. If that's the case the sensor is bad.
