Sideswipped a curb..what to check for.
Long story short, someone swerved into me and I swerved the other way to avoid being hit, so I hit the curb going at about 30mph. I didn't hit it head on, but my front rim was the first to hit, then my rear. It sort of banged and did a small bounce to the other side. The front rim has some prety bad curb rash, and a small chunk of the tire is missing but the tire is ok so far. The back rim has a little bit of curb rash as well. When I went on the highway I could deffinantly feel a difference. The spare change I had in my cubby and cup holder were jumping around and rattling insanely from all of the vibrations. The rims look straight, but I think they might be bent. Any way to check without taking the tires off? Anything else to check for? Would a bent axle be possible? I have a Moser 12 bolt, and I think those axles are supposed to be prety strong...What should I check first? Thanks
You should go to a reputable tire and front end shop.
If you have a chunk of sidewall missing, the tire is unsafe.
Both rims should be checked for true.
The Moser axles are strong against twisting, but the flange can still be bent from lateral loads.
The front could have a wheel hub asembly that has been looened and the front knuckle bent. A good alignment will tell you this information.
Good luck

Ouch sorry to hear that. Take the wheel off the front to see if theres anything bent up front, or just dosent look right. With the back take the wheel off and have someone turn the tire on the drivers side and see if the flange looks out of place. This is by no means any substitue for taking it to an alignment shop.
also check the driveshaft. after i sideswipped a curb imy problem was bad axle and drivshaft which i couldnt figure out. i ended up spending hundreds to find out i was a ebent driveshaft. had original one balnceed didnt fixed ended get lpe's 3.5 ds and probs went away.
Thanks for the replys. I toook the car to a tire shop and they put the two rims on the computer balancer, and you could visibly see that rear was bent prety badly. The front one was fine, just had a bit of curb rash. I will install the new rim when it comes in and see if the vibration goes away. I dont think its my driveshaft. I got a custom chromemolly driveshaft. That thing weighs a ton compared to my aluminum driveshaft. I dont see me bending or braking that thing.

Check the axel and the wheel hub the seal may be bad. If I'm correct the camaro's got a sealed hub assy. I did almost the same story in my X and luckily I went to lower the vehicle about a month later and found the seal to be bad still got the insurance co. to fix it. You are actually gonna have to pull the hub unless you can see it from the back of the spindle you can't on the X. Those things are like $3-400 each you shoulda gone through your insurance company thats how I bought my Boyds the factory wheels go for about $500 each bught the Boyds for $450 the insurance company gave me three wheels so essentialy I only bought one wheel.
