Default Drilled and Slotted Rotors

Please post pics of your drilled/slotted rotors on your vehicles. I went to get new tires and the mechanic claims I have them on backwards; the right front should be on the left front and vice versa.

When I received them they had stickers telling me which side they should go on and I installed them accordingly.

Want to know if the mechanic is right or does it really matter.

I think the vanes determine the direction, not the holes and slots.

That's correct...I've seen rotors with slots going forwards and other rotors have them going backwards.

Yes, if they are straight vanes (internally) in the rotors, they can run either way. However, for a long time, it was known (accepted?) that the slots swept from the hub out as the rotor rotated. This was to prevent pad material accumulating at the hub and causing a buildup that would produce a shudder (feels like a warped rotor). However, Baer slots theirs "backwards" (compared to this advice) and others do as well. So, it's not set in stone.
