Are the Corvette C5 brakes (rotors & calipers) a direct bolt onto an LS1 f-body? Just wondering because the new C6 Z06 6 caliper 14" front & 4 caliper 13" rear brakes bolt directly onto a C5 with no modification at all. So if the C5 stock brakes fit an LS1 f-body, then I think it'd be pretty safe to assume the C6 Z06 brakes will swap onto an f-body with no modifications

 

No, you need an adapter bracket. We offer the only direct bolt on, no cutting or fabrication required C5 upgrade for 98+ Fbodies.

Yes. I have the C5 brackets from LG, like Louis said and they are one of if not the best mod I have ever done. Stock Fbody rotors are 12" and the vette is 12.8 They make a huge difference. Go with the LG brackets, they are simple bolt on and a great design. You can keep your stock pads, and calipers. You just need the brackets and any front C5 rotors. I want with LG's DBA sloted/drilled rotors. LG and there C5 adapter brackets.

I don't think you read my innitial post fully. This would be used for C6 Z06 brakes purposes on an f-body...

 

id be interested to see if this works...problem is knowing GM that setup will cost more than a good break kit made directly for our cars

I wonder if the C6 Z06 setup is still a floating caliper since it's a 6-piston front/4-piston rear design??.... with pistons on each side of the rotor, it could be a fixed caliper setup. The regular C5 Z06 was only 2-piston front/4-piston back, and all pistons on the same side, right?

 

2 piston front, 1 piston rear. Just like the F-body, but the fronts are larger and with stronger calipers.

If someone was able to make them fit an fbody. You still have to deal with the parking brake.

 

thats an awesome setup, i guess ill wait until they are available and scoop up some regular C5 calipers from somebody for just about nothing...cant wait

 

I thought about that some and I came up with the solution... I'm going to carry a few bricks and a board to keep the car from rolling

Who said anything about swapping the rear brakes? The fronts alone would likely be a worthwhile swap. The vettes have a more balanced weight distribution than our f-bods with their rear transaxles. I'm not aware of anyone ever complaining about not having enough rear brake.

thye c6 zo6 rotors appear to have drums for the parking brake in those pics. Is thgat not compatible with f-body parking brakes?

 

The C5 uses larger bolts than the F-body. So, (assuming the C6 parts are a direct bolt on for C5 stuff) you'd want a C5 conversion that is designed for the C5 PAB and not the F-body version (the F-body version will have holes that are too small). Just something to consider.
