Default What Brakes?

OK I just bought a 98 T/A and before I do any performance mods, I want to get all of the supporting mods first. The first thing on my list is going to be brakes. This car will be a street/strip car, but maily a strip car, what brakes if any do I need? My goals as far as power wise are going to be around 1000 RWHP. Tall order for a 20 year old, but I have made wise decisions when it comes to money. My budget was $10,000 and I found one for $6,000, so that was good, now I need brakes that will handle the stopping force of 1000 RWHP and last. What brand and what do I need? Thanks in advance.

You did say do it right the first time...... right ??

Amazingly enough, they are lighter than all the PBR stuff and work a millions times better.

right click, save as.

You dont use brakes to stop a 1000hp car, you use a parachute.

You can't use a parachute in a daily driving manner, but I wouldnt be running 1000 RWHP on the street anyways, only around 750 RWHP, so would those huge ones work? And would they allow for the use of 15 inch wheels? Those look huge!!!!

Thoes rotors in the above pic are prolly the same size a a front skinny. There is no aftermarket brake system that will fit under a set of prostars/drag lights. You can run the C5 upgrade with either a set of bogarts or CCW drag wheels, but thoes are kinda $$$. Most people in the drag race forum are just fine with the stock equitment though. Once the car goes track *****, then it will be time to look for a good set of lightweight drag brakes, and chute.

Whatever brake combination you choose for a 750rwhp streetable strip vehicle, you definitely need to make sure that they're compatible with whatever brake control system you will use. Improperly balanced brake systems are not only tricky to operate, but can cause a dangerous, and possibly fatal mistake as well, even at 50mph.

As far as AP Racing and Brembo brakes go, they're very expensive for what they're worth. They're really not that much better than Stoptech for the same dimensions. I'm not too sure how good the customer service is for AP Racing or Brembo in the United States, however I can vouch for StopTech having excellent service.

Default Thanks

Thanks stang killer and fox, I thought those things looked pretty huge. Would the Billingsley Aeorspace front and rear brakes not be a good upgrade? They are on sale for $899 for the front and rear, so would that be good?
