I'd strongly suggest you guys pay attention to trackbird--the guy knows what he's talking about. Dimpled/Slotted rotors are for show. If you want to stop quick, you need to either increase friction with a different pad, or apply more force--like with big brake kits. It's just Physics 101.

My LT1 stops from 100-0 in 330-350ft with C5 brakes/XP8 pads. With the stock LT1 setup, it was around 480-500ft. With slotted rotors on the LT1 setup it was--you guessed it: 480-500ft--right up until the cracked!

the stock rotors hot spot so easily because they just let everything stay, slotted rotors allow the pads to breath and not clog up or glaze over. you might want to try to rough up your pads though. drive backwards and apply the brake and do that a few times and see if that helps
Urinating on the brakes will keep them cool as well. However I wouldn't recommend that nor would I takes Cop Car's advice

Wow. That is quite possibly the worst advice ever. Could you please explain to me how slotted or drilled rotors help with modern brake pads that don't produce gasses? And how does driving backwards affect anything?

If HPS aren't enough for you, you might consider stepping up to a more aggressive pad, such as the HP+. More noise, more dust, more rotor wear, but also more stopping power and less fade.

The C5 upgrade will also help, if you dont mind going to 17" wheels (and have ~$1000 to drop on it).

Well, the tires on our cars rotate 806 times a mile, so at 60 mph, the rotor is doing 806 rpm. At 120 mph, it's doing 1,612 rpm, at 180 mph, it's doing 2,418 rpm. Not really insane....

I'm guessing you are thinking of the old way to adjust drum brakes (drive backwards and hit the brakes to operate the self adjusters). It won't work on this car.....

Yeah, but it is an interesting way to eject a stuck CD ...

I have Hawk HPS pads up front with stock rotors.
Sounds like this is something you do a lot, so it might be time for a full on brake upgrade. You have lots of options... Just let me know, and I can explain more...

Guys, I don't know - I've got Hawk HP+ pads, stock rotors, and even I have gas buildup under braking sometimes.

Of course, the gas may have something to do with the all-you-can-eat mexican buffet down the road that I frequent. Hmmmm - I need more research.

The ultimate bang for the buck brake upgrade ...

http://frrax.com/rrforum/index.php?a...f=13&t=6136&s=

4 piston Brembos and a 13" rotor ... ever seen a F-car do a stoppie?

I had these brakes on my street car, which saw back to back to back 120+ to 50mph stops on several road racing courses near me and I never had an issue during a 30 minute pounding lap after lap ...
