It's not a full size battery so you have to be a little more careful like not running the stereo with the car not running, etc. Everything is a tradeoff.

The kit weighs 1 pound. 14 feet of battery cable weighs approximately 5 lbs.

Here's a link to a webpage outlining the specs of an Optima Redtop battery:

http://www.supertrux.com/Product%20S...0Batteries.htm

As you can see, the heaviest version they make is 17.6 pounds and has 1050 cranking amps. If you went with this setup, you're not going to add any weight to the car in comparison to what the stock battery weighs, you'll just be putting it where the car can benefit from it the most.

Damnit, I missed that. Okay 17.6 kg translates to 38lbs. Still about the same weight as a stock battery though.

Does that BMR kit come with the necessary wiring? Or is it just the battery box?

Just the hold down. You can find that same hold down at almost any circle track shop for around 25 bux, just without the powdercoating.

yeah - i think it is time for a light battery. Sounds nice to put it all in the back but i'd rather my car weigh less all around. 13lbs up front shouldn't do much I don't think anyway.

I plan to pick mine up from a welding supply store. Sometimes you can find it on ebay also. Either way it should come up for less than a dollar a foot. You can go crazy and use amp power cable from a stereo shop, but that stuff is like 3 bux a foot.

Is it harder to start the car as well?

I'm thinking of getting one of those Hawker PC680's. What exactly would one have to do to rig it up in the position of the stock battery? Do I simply need to buy those SAE Battery Terminal Posts and then the stock battery connections screw into that? Or do I have to make some adjustments with plates and posts and all that? Thanks.

Yes, get the SAE posts, then it hooks up like stock. As far as mounting it, you can fabricate a metal strap, or Thunder Racing has a pricy mounting kit for their DynaBat battery (same battery as the PC680), or maybe the battery mounting box would work (on the same page as the Hawker battery).
