on older bowties the x-msn housing would break with solid mounts, but again the ls1 is a more evolved beast.

Thanks guys. I'm just concerned as i'm waiting for my c5-r headed 434 from HPE and may even shoot it with a small shot so I may be in that realm of concern at some point. Thanks again

Do you mean polyurethane? Prothane is a brand name and they make their own.

Prothane Makes a Polyurethane motor mount- many companies distribute Prothane mounts.

I've never run solid mounts so I can't comment on them, but IMO poly mounts are one of the best uses of polyurethane on an F-body. I think you did right going with the Prothane mounts...

I love my prothane motor mounts! My engine doesn't jump all over the place anymore, and the car even feels more steady around corners. My stock ones were shot though. It doesn't vibrate much more inside the cabin, and doesn't cause KR like I've heard other people claim.

haha
To The Top (puts the thread back to the top of the list so more people will see it)

The stock mounts are like wearing two condoms.
The polys are like wearing one condom.
I haven't tried solid mounts but, well I think you see where I was going.

Quick question. If I go with Poly motor mounts. Should I go ahead and upgrade the transmission mount with Poly also?

Yes. It's not a good idea to do poly motor mounts and leave the tranny and torque arm mounts stock. If you do motor mounts, then you should also do the tranny and torque arm mounts.

Why would it be a bad idea to leave the OEM tranny mount when going with the poly engine mounts?

For those who care, I got more vibration from doing the Prothane trans mount than doing both of the Prothane engine mounts and noticed very little difference in feel or performance compared to the more compliant 1LE mount...

I've run the following combinations:
1) stock engine and trans mounts (obviously)
2) stock engine mounts with 1LE trans mount
3) drivers side poly engine mount, stock pax side engine mount, 1LE trans
4) drivers side poly engine mount, stock pax side engine mount, poly trans
5) drivers side poly engine mount, poly pax side engine mount, 1LE trans
6) drivers side poly engine mount, poly pax side engine mount, poly trans

IMO, if you want to keep the most compliant, stock-like feel, while reducing engine movement then option (3) is your best bet. If you want the most solid, direct feel and a little vibration doesn't bother you then (5) or (6) should both work for you. Besides, the trans mount is a 15 minute swap so if you're not happy its easy to undo. The poly engine mounts have to rank in my top 10 list of best bang-for-the-buck basic F-body mods.

So do you guys that daily drive your cars with solid mounts have problems with your knock sensors or anything else? I'm wanting to get a set of solid mounts myself but don't want them to cause problems.
