Default tunnelbrace/midbar thingy question

ok theres a bar i think its called the tunnel brace a shitty little piece of sheet metal with 4 bolts near the Y-midpipe. my exhaust i think is hitting the thing, does it have any structural meaning or is it a pointless POS, if its worth keeping ill shimm it a little to clear my exhaust, otherwise ill just rip the sucker out, lemme know

It's supposed to stregthen the driveshaft tunnel. Many people have their exhaust hit the tunnel brace after they add aftermarket exhaust. Lots just get rid of the brace. I personally would shim it or buy an aftermarket tunnel brace that has more clearance.

It's a placeholder for your Lakewood driveshaft loop.

It does have structural value--the amount is arguable. Take a hammer to it and tweak it to fit. That's what I did.
