Default Rear caliper metal shims

2001 Trans Am.

Does anyone have close up pictures of how the metal shim/spring looks
when it is correctly installed on the rear caliper/pads (see image)...?

This shouldn't rub on the piston/seal, should it...?

Thanks.

It usually just snaps up into the slot in the center of the top of the caliper. I forget if you can put it in backwards or not, did you try turning it around?

It snaps up into caliper slot, but part of it seems to rub on the piston seal.

I was hoping that if someone had their rear calipers off if they would snap some closeup pictures showing the detail of this.

It can only go in 1 of 2 ways.

It's actually a "spring" that hols tension on the back side of the pads to help reduce chatter.

They are a bitch to get up in there, but they will "snap" into place, up and away from the piston area.

You can run without them ...

If you can wait a day or so till I put my front suspension back together, I will be starting on the rear and can take some pics for you. PM me if you interested.

Thanks, PM sent, take your time.

If you're pulling the rear calipers off, can you also include a pic looking into the caliper so I can see the piston and seal and the clip in place.

Thanks again.
