Are the UMI sfc's painted or powdercoated?

I'm thinking I want the slp 3pt because they're boxed and powdercoated.

CON: ground clearance.
PRO: stiff and work as a jacking point, not that I want to mess up the finish or anything.

Hello, All our items are powder coated and are available in Red or Black at no additional cost. We use a high quality glossy powder coat on all our items.

As for ground clearance when we designed our 3-Point SFC's we wanted them to tuck as tight up against the floor as possible and to keep ground clearance at its best. If you look closely at our installation pictures you will see how we bent our braces to follow the contour of the floor... this keeps ground clearance issues at a minimum.

If you have any questions please ask. Thank you!

I had my UMI boxed SFC's installed today and you can really feel a difference in the way the car feels when you go over bumps. I don't know why I waited so long to do this simple mod. Now I am wondering if I should have done the 3 points.

I have SLP bolt ons (and they are welded in as well) and like them for the sturdy design although they're probably be heavier, and I always jack my car up using them and don't have to give it the first thought wondering if they are tough enough for that or not (they are!)

I got the LGMotorsports SFC's with the optional v-braces, the SFC's were welded on, the v-braces are bolted on, I've checked on them every year and they never loosened up.

I don't think you can get the LG SFC's or the v-braces any longer, if I would have to choose again I would probably not choose any because I built my car for the twisties, and really, TRULY, the 4th-gen f-body torsional stiffness is head and heels above what the 3rd-gen's rigidity was. With beefier front and rear swaybars and stiffer springs and premium shocks (read Konis) handling is superb and makes the car nice and stiff anyway.

Want more info on this, you can ask Sam Strano, he's been autocrossing his f-body for years now, has won 4 national championships with his 4th-gen f-body and guess what???

he doesn't have SFC's on his car, and apparently his body is as straight as can be.

This is for autocross/cornering purposes, I have no idea of how 1/4 mile racing affects the 4th-gen f-body however.

Food for thought.

BMR Boxed here. No problems and they serve their purpose.

When I bought my car, it was still stiff from the factory with only 14 milies on it. In less than 500 miles I had the BMR SFCs on it so it won't grow weak as it ages.

The car has 32K on it now, and there is not a squeek or rattle anywhere!

I decided on the spohn tubular mild steel sfc's. For the price, ($140), clearance (can't see them unless you bend down) and weight (17lbs) I don't think they can be beat.

Hello, the boxed version resists torsional twisting more than a tubular version. Our boxed connectors reinforce the front lower control arm mounting point and are a much stronger piece than the tubular connectors. Both units are a weld on design. If you have any questions about any of our products please let me know.
