Default Installing Bilsteins...need a little help

I purchased a set of replacement SLP Bilstein shocks for the Ultra Performance Suspension kit. Included with each shock was a washer, nut, and a metal "cap." Where and how does the metal cap install? I am assuming you simply tap it on the top of the shock? Also, am I missing anything that should have been included?

Well the metal cap should already be on the shock. I had to hammer it off using a chisel or flathead screwdriver would work as well. You have to take it of in order to slide that black circle base that is on the stock shocks. Then tap it back on with the hammer until it's all the way on.

The metal cap came in a seperate bag along with a new washer and bolt. What black circle base are you talking about?

Just to clarify, I am referring to the metal "cap" in this picture.

Is it a coil over set? I dunno i was just referring what i had to do when i installed my springs and shocks.

The front shocks has that base that sits on a metal ridge on the shock tube, it's what the bottom of the shock sits on. In order to get that to fit on there I had to take off that metal cap thing for the base to slide on the shock tube.

In that pic the black base isn't pictured cause he has adjustable shocks.

That metal cap fits onto that portion of the shock. Mine came with it already on.

This is the black base that i'm talking about. These are my pics of my spring and shock.

Here is the same pic with the top portion showing the metal cap.

OK, I see what you are talking about now. Is there supposed to be some sort of bump stop between the cap and the upper spring perch?

The only this that is missing are the shock shaft protecter things. That just slides onto the shock shaft before putting the spring on the shock. I forgot to put them on and didn't want to jack with compressing the springs and all that bs to put that on so i left it off. I probably will put the on sometime.

Other then that just put the spring on and get the spring perch back on and get the nut tightened all the way.
