Default Cracking rotors...

My cross drilled rotors have small hairline fractures that are coming from each of the holes... should I replace these asap? I'm afraid they will come apart. As of right now, the cracks arn't very big, but I am still concerned...

Yes yes yeas! replace them! that is very dangerous. throw some stockers on there until you can get a replacement.

Once they crack they will fall apart, they crack from excessive heat.

Yes and learn a lesson from this. Good blanks are the real deal, plus they're cheap and last longer without any special coatings or extraordinary treatment procedures.

Better than having your brakes fail and totalling your car!

They are brembo rotors just cross drilled. The original owner of the car put them on so I don't know the exact milage, but he also had all of the work done at a certain dealer, and the printout from the dealer says that the last work done on the car there was about 20k miles ago. I bought the car 14k miles ago.

BTW I'm going to Autozone today to get the cheapest rotors I can find to hold me over until I can get good replacement drilled rotors. They are backordered on TireRack .

You're missing the point of this whole thing.

There are no drilled rotors I'd really call "good" replacements (the Porsche drilled rotors hold up quite well, but they are about the only ones and they won't fit our cars without buying an expensive brake kit). Just get good blanks and run them. You'll crack the next set of drilled rotors just like you cracked this set. It's common.

Hell, I crack blanks. But it takes a lot more to do so. Hoepfully by the end of summer ill have some Prostop or Stoptech products on the car.

I listened to you guys... I bought some really nice blanks and good brake pads. The car stops on a dime compared to before .

hmm...

either I smell someone's fancy cross-drilled brakes being bedded in only to crack, or it might actually be the placebo effect of a thread closure.
