Default Suspension help!!!

i am getting dms springs for my 2001 ws6 and i am undecided on what kind of shocks i should get ........i am staying away from bilstein b/c i hear alot of horror stories.......the two i have been thinking about are koni and hals.....also i was wondering what kind of panhard bar and sway bars you all would recommend? and also add if you think i would need additional stuff........its my weekend car, it sits alot and when i eventually take it out i like to drive on back roads and i rarely hit the drag strip up but when i do i would want something that would perform well there too...thanks for the help if any!

Hals are for the drags..............koni's are the only way to go as far as I am concerned. If you are not into the drags stay away from Hals.

Even if you're into drags, I'd look harder to see what's better than HAL's.

Just curious about the "horror" stories you've heard about Bilsteins.

SA's are all you need for the street. Don't waist your money on the double adjustables.

And why don't you ask how many folks have broken of had issues with Revalves I've done? The answer is none.

As for the "horror stories". Come on. The shock in HD trim is not valved to handle higher rate/shorter travel springs. They are underdamped. So are the stock shocks from GM. Are you driving a horror story now? Is it the best way to do things? No, but it's not Nightmare on Elm Street. HD's with those springs would be higher up on my list then HAL's and those springs.

You don't have many workable options here:

HD's that are meant for stock springs
Revalves that are meant for lowering springs/performance drivng
Koni's that can do a lot of things, and cover all bases
HAL's that are as costly as Koni's but are terrible dampers.
KYB AGX's which are cheap (down around HD's) and are terrible dampers.

Revalves were started specifically for folks like you who don't want to/can't pony up for Koni's. I felt those folks deserved a better alternative than telling them to just settle. Hence the Revalving, which BTW is done to my specs by Bilstein in San Diego, not by me in my basement.

I totally agree! Those shocks have to be the worst mod/money I have ever spent on my car!
