Default Panhard Bar Installation

Ok its pretty straight forward and really not that big of a deal. But my question is, do you need the upper bar that goes from the drivers side to the mount. I know you replace the lower bar with the upgraded tubular unit. I was just curious cause in the accident the upper one is the one that the tow truck bent.

Yes, you need it. Get your insurance to pay for it.

Thats what I am trying to not do. I have a 500 dollar deductable, and I have spent about 800 bucks fixing my car. I don't exactly want my insurance to go up being that I already have my ex-wife's totaled truck on my record.

If it's bent, get a new one. I would go with the aftermarket one if I had to get a new one.

I'm not aware of an aftermarket part for that bar. Your best bet might be to find a salvage yard and remove it from there.

Actually, BMR makes an upper panhard bar for our cars. It's supposed to increase clearance for an over the axle exhaust. And yes, this part is needed.

Yes, the heat shield is attatched to your stock upper panhard bar, but it is held on by a couple of 7mm screws which can be easily removed. I don't think the BMR piece has a place for the heat shield to be screwed on though, so it just wouldn't be as supported as it were with the stock piece. The heat shield does not need to come off your car though.

would it be possible to replace the screws on to the new piece? had the heatshield come loose before and it was annoying as hell with it rattling around and ****

I don't think you'd be able to screw the heat shield onto the new bar being that it is supposed to help with clearance (tubular design compared to stamped) so it probably wouldn't be close enough to anchor the heat shield down to it. This is only an assumption though, I haven't physically attempted it.
