Default Nitto 275/40R17's vs. 315/35R17's

1) Do the 315's fit the 17x9 SS rims?

2) How much better (if any) would the 315's hook on the street compared to the 275's? And, if it's cold out, does it even matter?

3) Any difference in driveability between the two at highway speeds? How fast can you safely take the 315's?

4) Do ET Streets hook much better than the Nitto 315's on the street? If so, who else (if anyone) makes them besides Hoosier & Mickey Thompson? I'm not a big fan of the white lettering on the sidewalls.

Thanks in advance.

The 315's will bulge over the 9.5 inch rim. Considerably from what I've read; try a search as I recall reading this within the last week. Agree with you on the cold; it probably doesn't matter. Mine have to warm up considerably in the cold otherwise I get bad wheel hop.

Does anyone sell 17x11, chrome SS rims in two's instead of a set of four?

I had 315's on 17x 9 ws-6 wheels. They did buldge a bit but gave it an agressive look. Now I have them on 17 x 9.5 fikse rims. They only buldge enough to keep you from curbing the rim. They look great.

Would 315's on a 17x9 rim hook much better on the street than the 275's?

Any safety concerns going high speeds with this set-up? Let's say a highway run to 135mph?

1) Probably not a good idea on a 9" rim. You can do it, but you will lose contact area. I would use 17x11 rims, such as the ZR1s or similar.
2) 315s are going to hook better on the street, especially from a roll. Normally you would want a tire with more sidewall flex from a start, but you generally can't get that kind of traction on an unprepped street anyway. If it's cold out, forget it with any tire. Spin city
3) 315s are good up to about 150 MPH or so. Please don't drive that fast on the street, though. Take that speed to the track.
4) ET Streets or Quicktime Pros will hook better on the street. No questions on that. But you cannot use those as everyday tires. If you did, the rubber will get hard. And if it rains, forget it. Slide city. The Nittos do very well in the rain, even the 315s. I can go 70 on wet roads with no problems.

I went to the tire shop the other day and I was asking the guy there about this setup...Except they were 18x10 rim I think with the 315's...All that I have to say is it looks pretty bit$hin...The Rim was a ZR-1 replica...He was going to give me the two rims and tires for 700...Thats including install and everything...i hope this helps you out...

I have 315's on ZR1 17X11's on the back of my 2000 SS, and they hook very well when the roads are warm, but when it is cold, I can spin them until 3rd gear on my stalled auto. I have had them up to 145 and they were very smooth also. One thing you need to pay attention to is that you should run them around 22PSI on the street, or you will simply wear the centers out before the edges. One last thing, they look wicked from behind.

Good luck
