Default Brake Light / ABS INOP light on.......

I have been trying to figure out how to fix this, and can't seem to figure it out. I took it to the dealership and they said the computer was not communicating with the PCM. They said the brakes looked good, maybe the front need to be changed soon. I also checked the speed sensor around the housing and it looked in tact. I also checked the front brake sensors....I took it to a friends thinking it might be the master cylinder, but he said it wasn't. Does anyone know what it could be? I also have tried to reset the computer and that didn't work. I haven't checked the wires completey to make sure they are not melted or split, but has anyone ever had this problem? It started to do it after burnouts...any help would work......thanks Manny <img border="0" alt="[Pontiac]" title="" src="graemlins/formula.gif" />

My ABS inop light comes on after a long burnout but it would fix itself about 10 minutes after I completed the run. If its staying on I'd look for loose connections or maybe one of the wires is grounded now

Do you have any non functioning brake lights? I know on some cars that if one of the brake lights don't work the ABS light comes on. It's worth a shot. good luck

You had the car to the dealer and was told that the fronts need to be changed soon. Worn pads or rotors don't have anything to do with the ABS light. The dealer should have been able to fix the problem. Make sure all ABS connectors at the wheels are plugged together and also the connector above the differential on the underside of the floor. After coming off the dyno, my light was on and it was that connector that was open. That's all you can do. If a speed sensor is bad, or if an ABS wiring harness has a break or short, you can't tell from a visual inspection. Find a dealer who will fix the problem.
