Default Popping sound from brakes?

Whenever I put her in reverse and then hit my brakes, they make a popping noise up front and then it happens once I put it back into drive and brake at 25mph and under. Once I start driving, it doesn't do it anymore but when I come back to it after letting the car sit off for awhile, the same thing happens again. They are Powerstop cross-drilled rotors all around with the semi-metallic brake pads that come with them from Summit. It did this same thing with my last rotors from Napa and then it started a week after the Powerstops were installed. Other than this minor problem, the brakes work wonderfully and I love them.High speed braking is awesome and they were broke in per Install University's instructions. The Powerstops now have about 2k miles on them. Please Help??!?!

JMO, but I would start with cking all mounting hardware and retainer clips for pads. then I would look farther beyond brake to possible ball joint or susp. bushing prob. (although that is unlikely since problem seems to be intermitant).

hope this helps!

Thanks for the advice but I'm not too keen on brake issues or suspension issues. I am thinking that I should go ahead and take her to Just Brakes or do you guys think that I should scratch that and take it straight to the dealership since it might be suspension related. The car isn't under warranty so it'll be on my dime all the way Thanks alot though.

Oh heeeeck NO! Please don't ever take your car to one of those wham bam thank you ma'am car shops. The dealer's usually bad enough but those places are just a racket.

My neighbor sent his wife to Just Brakes to get their $99 4 wheel brake deal(pads, turn rotors, etc...) on a 2 year old car. She called him to see if he wanted to let them keep the car because it was "UNSAFE" to drive.

Ooooh, we'll needed to replace this and replace that and this thing right here has GOT to go and we'll have to special order THAT part 'cause they're hard to find. You're lucky we caught this in time and it'll only cost $845!
------

IMO the entire stock brake system is a POS. I hear noises from mine all the time backing up. If it were me, I'd check the mounting hardware first with a tq wrench and then make sure my wheels were torqued properly.

If you don't have any obvious chatter in turns or pulling while braking or something that just sounds BAD, then I wouldn't worry about it.

Can you give me some idea as to cost, installation issues and where you got them.

Thanks

Something that I just thought about is that around the time it started happening or maybe even right before it started at all, I had a guy pull into my my lane in some weird construction zone where one of the lanes was not accessible; I was forced to swerve to the right and then I mashed the brakes so I wouldn't run over the curb but low and behold I hit the curb even though I thought I was homefree. I hit the curb while on my brakes at about 15-20mph. The curb was in the center of an entrance and exit for an apartment complex so I thought I was gonna clear the curb island by sliding into the driveway. It sucked and I was pissed! Only the right fron wheel hit the curb.

Just remembering this little incident makes me not want to ignore the situation and even kind of worries me but first off I'll check the mounting hardware as you guys suggested. I hope I can get this figured out because I'm thinking this is a pretty rare and unusual problem. Thanks again everyone
