Can anyone please give me any pointers on how to get the ground control coilovers over the front Koni's? The drawing says to either machine the top gold piece so that the coilover assembly will fit over it, or that on some Koni shocks the jam nut can be broken loose and the gold top removed to allow the coilovers to be installed. The jam nut doesn't look like it's going to come free, but I've never heard of anyone having to have their Koni front shocks machined. Does anyone have any advice?
Thanks!
Matt

I helped a friend install them. He had the Koni Sports. we could not get the gold top off so he sent them out to be machined. the machine shop looked at them and fabricated a spanner wrench that fit up under the gold top and then it could be unscrewed. the collar was slipped on and then the gold top was retightened with the spanner.

Well I am in the same boat. I guess I will hack a 24m socket. I think I have an image of a spanner that Bill spoke of.
It would be great if they GC or Koni included a tool with the kit, or at least offer to sell the blasted thing.
Anybody have a home solution? Thanks!

I used a 15/16ths socket, cut a slot in it to barely clear the shock shaft. I then placed the socket in a 1 1/8th or a 1 1/4th { in any event I used a boxed end that fit the OD of the socket snugly} boxed end wrench and welded it in place. I then cut the box end to match the socket. Worked like a charm, I used a pipe wrench to hold the collar. I used cheapy a wrench and a cheapy socket so it only cost me something like 15 bucks or so.
