Default Have heard bad things about Hotchkis springs...

I'm tired of the 4x4 look. I need some springs for my 01 Z28. I know Hotchkis makes good suspension parts(I have their LCA's, Panhard Rod, and STB). But, I have heard that their springs are no good, that over time they sag significantly and get that "in the weeds" look. Is this true? Has anyone had a bad Hotchkis experience? Should I just go with the Eibachs like eveyone else? Anyone with Hotchkis springs out there? I need your help. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> Thanks.

For some time there were some problems with the hotchkis springs lowering the car close to 2.5 inches within a month or so of being installed. This was ~2 years ago though and I think they have fixed this problem. I have a set on my car, and have 2 friends that also have had sets installed fairly recently. All our cars were lowered right at 1-1.25 inches all the way around.

I wanted to go with the G2 springs from LG motorsports, but being as how they would not give me the spring rates so I could have shocks revalved to match them, I was left with going with someone who wasn't afraid to let their specs be out in the open. I intended to go with the eibach prokit for a ~1.5" drop, but I came across a deal on a set of hotchkiss springs that I could not refuse.

I have been 100% pleased with the hotchkiss in the ~6 months that they have been on my car and wouldn't hesitate to go with the hotchkiss springs again.

I just installed my hotchkis springs 2 weeks ago. They lowered the car a little over an inch. So far I am happy with them. I heard that some people with these springs get close to a 1.5 inch drop since they have progressive spring rates.

I got some about a year ago..they dropped my ws6 way down..at least 1.5 more like two inches..scraped ,bottomed even with better shocks..kyb agx..coudnt even go up or down my own driveway without worrying I was going to scrape up the bumpers..I had big hassles but finally got some satisfaction from hotchkis and from the dealer that sold them to me..still cost me a lot of money in shipping charges, brokerage into canada, taxes, labor ,etc..I am pretty sure now they sell the lt1 springs instead of the old ls1 which were obviously not very accurate on the one inch drop thing..I can see how the lt1 wouldn't drop as much front but really can't see how they wouldn't drop as much rear as the lt1 and ls1 are identical for weight in the back..the ls1 being lighter in front with the aluminum engine.I went with slp eibachs and got a close to one inch drop which I am finding still a bit too low with my new tts longtubes..probably get a set of hal shocks to raise front if they work with the slp springs.I really liked my hotchkis springs though..excellent ride and fantastic handling..
The slp eibachs are rougher riding and handling is pretty good..if hotchkis has their act together now then great..I should have just got hals then for the hothckis and got some kind of spacer to raise the back up a bit..

I put the Hotchkis springs on my SS almost two years ago on stock shocks they dropped the car about 1.75 inches. I reciently changed my shocks to Bilsteins and gained about a 1/2". The combo handle and look great. To complete my handling package I installed BMR front and rear anti sway bars, SFC and STB. On my G-Tech meter I pull close to 1G now. This combo really works on the street and the track. My best 60' on street radials has been 1.89 with a 1/4mi time of 12.79 @116. I also have the BMR torque brace and TueTech Performance CNC'd aluminum LCA's. Back to the point Hotchkis springs are ok if you change the assiociated part with them.
