Help with Hotchkis STB
Do I have the wrong STB or what?
Dan
"Dan,
That's wierd, I never had that problem at all when it was on my car.
The only thing I can think of is, did you install the two shims correctly? They go on a certian way. double check the shims, and if that's not it, you can send it back to me and I'll refund your money if you want.
Sorry to hear your having this problem.
BTW, while I was at Thunder Racing dyoning my car today, I asked Jason99TA just to make sure if the STB was year specific, and he said it fits all 98-02 F-bodys, like I thought it did.
Again, if your not satisfied with it, send it back and I'll take care of you.

/\ This guy is a class act. I'd like to say that Gordon was a pleasure doing business with and he sold me a very good product. I'm sure the problem lies with me.
Do NOT hesitate to do any kind of business with him. He's awesome!
I'm going to work on this tomorrow (Sat.). I'll post the results.

Things I noticed are...your brackets are right...I don't think you COULD switch them.
Your bar is right side up. The install looks correct.
I did notice that my tranny dipstick is a good inch below the bar but my oil dipstick has always rubbed the inside of the front bar. When I looked under the cowl, I just noticed that the center plastic "push screw" is resting on the top of the bar and is actually pushed up some through the trim.
Maybe you could remove that push screw and see if that makes a difference or is your stb actually touching metal?

Let me know if the link is broken.
I had to bend the trans fluid and oil dipsticks out of the way. I'll probably bend the trans fluid one a little more.
Overall, I really don't care about the appearance. This is performance mod anyway. It looks fine actually. It's just not the same as everyone elses. No big deal. I'm happy with the STB and it's performance. I'm still not sure why it sits weird though. Oh well, it's on and it works!
Thanks for your help.

maybe sleeve it in heater hose or something
else to keep metal from buzzing metal? It may
be in interference then, but quiet.

<strong>You probably somehow got one of those knock-off "Hotkis" STB's.</strong></font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">nope, it's the real deal.
