Default Clicking/popping noise

When backing the car up, using no brake whatsoever, I receive this loud popping/clicking noise from my left rear tire area. Once I apply the brake, the noise disappears, but once the brake is let off, it begins again. I had the car jacked up recently, and turned the back wheels with my hand, it still received this noise. Recently, while im slowly rolling forward, it pops/clicks WITH the brake applied (but still moving forward). Once I remove the brake, the sound is gone. Anyone want to take a stab at this? This is also the wheel i have always had a squeaking problem with. I replaced the rear calipers and pads 3-4 months ago. Any thoughts/suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks
I have a 98 Z28.

Matt...is your car an A4 or M6? If it's an A4, your problem could be the infamous "driveshaft tink" people speak of going from Park to Reverse.

I've had a similar issue with my '98 SS as well. As soon as I make my first left hand turn out of my driveway I get the same clicking, popping noise from the left rear tire.

What's crazy is, this only happens on my "First" left turn. Anyother turn (left or right) after that first initial turn and there are no problems. I've just ignored it to be honest because it's not caused a problem at all.

No A4 here...M6 all the way. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" /> Damn noises. These scare me because they have something to do with the braking system. It wouldn't have anything to do with the fact that my ABS INOP light is on would it? Thanks again,

Matt
