Default anyone running 255/50/16 all the way around??

I'm getting new tires but don't have the money for 17 inch rims. I currently have 245/50/16 but saw that a few companies make 255/50/16. If I go with the larger size will there be any clearance issues in the front? I have an HPP3 to adjust the speedo for the new tires if I decide to change the size.

You won't need to. 255 is only the width of the tire.

maybe i can help you.. first of all as funeclown said 255 is the width of the tire, so i assume you are looiking for a slightly wider tire... what funeclown doesnt know and i imagine you know is that the sidewall ratio will make the overall tire diameter larger than stock

because the 50 in 255/50/16 stands for 50% of the treadwith. so 50% of 255 is definitely larger than 50% of 245

all that being said. up until i got the vette wheels i ran 255/50/16 kumho ecsta supras all the way around and i liked them very much... think i only paid like $375 for all 4 shipped to my house from tirerack i think.

the wheel does fill up the wheel well a little more, and car sits only slightly higer than stock but i had no noticeable rubbing issues from them.. also no major affect on the speedometer

i have pics 'new camera pics' on my website showing the tires on my car.

please email me if you have any other questions.

Just a little FYI http://www.bfgoodrichtires.com/bfgapp/index.jsp makes a 265/50/16 and a 295/50/16 !

I run the 265/50/16 on the rear factory rims for the winter when I put my 315/35/17s away !

Go to tirerack.com and search the size in the goodyear product line and check out the specs for the sizes you are curious about. I run the Goodyear HP Ultra Plus in 255-50-16 for a couple reasons. The actual tread width on this tire is identical to the Goodyear GSC 275-40-17 tire. The actual tire diameter for the stock sizes in 16" or 17" is 25.6" and the 255-50-16 is 26". The dia' difference will play no havoc in any way with your car. I wanted the taller sidewall for pothole safety and ride smoothness. It also allows to enhance the sleeper attitude as you can run Nitto DR's on the dead stock/cheap wheels and they don't really get noticed much.
