BFGOODRICH KDW vs Firehawk SZ50 EP
I current have Goodyear GS-C in a 245/50/16. I was thinking about going with the BFG's until a friend mention the Firehawk SZ50. Everything I've read says the Firehawks blow the BFG's away. I want real feedback from fellow racers. What do you think? Also, is anyone running 255/50/16 on the front and rear? Is there any clearance issues? I don't think there should be since our cars came with a 275/40/17 option. Thanks for your feedback!!
P.s. Car is daily drive so it will se the rain but no snow. That's when i take the wife's GTP.

The only reason why some say that the firehawks are better is becasue they will proform any tire in the rain. The BFG's will out proform them in dry weather, so if your in a place where it rains alot go with the firehawks.

Thanks for the feedback. One more question. How noisey are the KDW. My GS-C howl like crazy on the highway.

How about the Bridgestone S-03 Pole Positions??? They have GREAT dry and wet traction ratings on Tirerack and the guys at TiresPlus told me they stick like glue on dry pavement.
I will be buying a set of them in 265/40/17....they have the same x-sectional width as the 275/40/17 SZ50's and have a thread contact patch 1.1" WIDER than the SZ50's. PLUS they are 0.4" SHORTER for less sidewall Sounds like a great combo if you ask me

unfortunately, I'm stuck with 16 inch rims. I don't have the cash for rims and tires. But who knows...christmas isn't that far off

Re: BFGOODRICH KDW vs Firehawk SZ50 EP
i have tried the Firehawks and they really are great tires for dry and wet,
i had them on my 17X9.5 rims in 275/40-17.
but now that i have 17x11 in the back i went with Dunlop p8000, the wider tires are supposed to hook better, bu tlet me tell ya, the small Firestone Firehawks hooked noticiably better than the big Dunlops (straight line that is, NOT cornering), i wish Firestone makes them in 315/35 size.
i don't know about the BFG but i think, Firehawks have better tread wear rating,
hope that helps

It doesn't rain much here, but when it does, it pours.
The KDW's perform well in the rain and dry. Better than the stock F1's for both IMO. You sure you're not thinking of the KD's having bad traction in the wet.. that is true.
Noise on the KDW's in minimal. They aren't so sticky as to throw road debris on your car (like my Kumho's), and there is no noticable cruising noise from the tires. And they give a good warning when you are getting close to the limit.
I will buy the KDW's again.

When thinking of the SZ50's just flat-out being better tires than the BFG's, you may be thinking of the old BFG Comp TA's, not the newer g-Force TA's. The newer g-Force KDW's seem to be one of the better deals out there in tire-land, as far as daily driver street tires.

Re: BFGOODRICH KDW vs Firehawk SZ50 EP
I have tried both and like the Firehawks Better. Although I don't think I have tried the new g-force BFGs. That might make a difference.
But in a stock M6 I can cut consistant 2.0-2.1 with the Firehawk SZ50s. Handling is great and they lasted 24K of pretty agressive driving, including more than a few burnout session for the wildtimes videos Great tire. That's why I bought a new pair for the fronts(Nitto DRs for the rear)

Thanks for your feedback. It looks like no matter what i choose I'll be making a big improvement over the CS-C.
