Default Disadvantages of a BMR XTreme Torque Arm?

I have a lightly modded car that I plan on building out over time. I'd like to put on a new torque arm to try and reduce the wheel hop that I've developed since putting on my Cartek clutch. I found someone selling their BMR Xtreme, unused, for a reasonable price. Is there any disadvantage putting on something this beefy? Keep in mind, at this point it is a daily driver, but I'd like to take it to the strip occassionally and maybe participate in some auto x events next spring.

I guess it really depends on how wild you are going to get with the Horsepower. You probably dont have wheel hop since the clutch install it is most likely Chatter. My Cartek chatters too. but I spoke with Dave at Cartek and he said that I need to adjust the rod and make it shorter and that will go away.
the only concern I would have about the BMR extreme would be road noise. It even says on their website that this will create noise and is only recommended for the extreme enthusiast.
If you are looking for the torque arm to stop the chatter you are looking in the wrong place.
I have heard alot of people talking about the new Edlebrock torque arm which sells new for $169. I believe they said Ramchargers carries them. This is not only a great deal but everyone has said nothing but good things about them. I guess it is mostly up to you but know that the BMR extreme will cause noise and If i'm not mistaken requires you to have Subframe Connectors so it can weld to them too. Just my .02

I definately do get chatter, but I can distinguish between the two. When I engage first gear, sometimes I do get some wheelhop when things catch. The other day it happened right next to a cop <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" /> . I've chatted with a couple of other ppl that had this happen to them too with their Cartek.

How much road noise would it generate? I've got a double layer of dynamat from the hump back in my car from back when I was trying to combat the loudmouth drone. Maybe I'll just go with the Edlebrock. I happen to have some boxed SFCs on, so the fact that I need to weld up the crossbrace isn't that big a deal.

As for adjust the rod, can you give me more info on doing that. I'd LOVE to get rid of the chattering.

By the sounds of your future plans with the car I would say stay away from the Extreme duty Tq arm by BMR. I think in the long run you'll be unhappy with in regards to road noise and road feel. I'd say go the route of the Edelbrock.

Ok, Edlebrock it is. Wonder if there will be a GP on them any time soon...
