Default 17x9.5 wheels and drag radials

I have 17x9.5 wheels with 275/40 Nitto DRs on them. The wheels look they they can take a wider tire. I used to run a 275/40 Nitto DR on a 17x8.5 wheel and it looked about right. So what size can I squeeze on the 9.5?

Thanks,
Justin

I have a buddy who has 315/35/17 Nittos on his 9" wide 10 spokes if that helps you out a bit. They look dayum good on there too.

I know local guys used to run their Supra TT's w/ 315 BFG DR's.

This is on their stock 17x9.5 wheels.

Well, imo, the Nitto 315 is so much narrower (just by eyeing it up!), I think it'd fit fine on a 9 or 9.5"

the 315-35-17 Nitto DR will fit. I have heard that it might wear the middles out quicker than the 275. The 315 is for a 10-11" wide wheel. The 285-40-17 tires look pretty good.
