Default aligment on lowered cars

Ok how many of yall were able to get your car back to factory aligment specs (or at least close) after you lowered it? I lowered my car with the bmr springs ( 1 inch drop), and they tried to feed my some BS about how there was no way they could make any aligment adjustements on my car b/c its was lowered.

After mine was lowered they (Goodyear) said everything was fine but the Castor would not go back in tolerance becuase of the lowering. No tire wear issues though at all.

You may end up with more caster than the factory specs, but that's not a bad thing. Your drop is very conservative, so if you want the factory specs (I'd go for more negative camber personally) it should be possible or at least very close. The fact that your shop told you they can't make ANY adjustments to alignment after lowering makes me call <img border="0" alt="[bullshit]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_bs.gif" /> . I'd look for a shop that specializes in alignments in your area and use them instead.

FWIW, I have my alignment settings at

caster +6.0
camber -0.7
toe 0.0

with Eibach ProKit springs. I love this alignment for street/mild track use. Its very stable at speed and not too aggressive. You should get better tire wear also. If you want something more aggressive I'd check with the rr/autox guys and spell out your goals.

I road course mine a lot and am set at

caster +4.3
camber -0.8
toe zero

I lowered my 2002 Z-28 with H&R stage 2 springs (1.25 inches....so they say, it seems a little lower than that). I am running 1.3 degrees of negative camber, 4.5 degrees of castor (and I could have gone with about 4.2 to 5.3 if I wanted it (had plenty of room) and 1/32nd inch of total toe out. I had plenty of adjustment for anything I wanted. You may want a second opinion. Just my experience. Good luck.
