Re: What are the BEST brake pads???
"Best" is such a relative term, best for me may be to harsh for you. hawk makes good pads. but they dust like crazy and ive heard others say they were dissappointed
personally i went with AutoZone rotors and Oriely's brand ceramic pads (made by ceramix). and this set up is great. i have only done the front and braking distance is much better and overall feel is much better. i would definantly recommend this setup and it cost 120 bucks total to replace the front end.
others will chime in but thats my .02 <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Re: What are the BEST brake pads???
The best brake lines are the plastic coated lines. I do not know who sells them. The best is NOT Earls brand.
Brakes - depends on what you want. Great performance comes at a cost. The cost is dust, squeaking, low pad life, high pad cost, and low rotor life. There are some trade offs if you do not go all out. I.E. longer rotor life can be had with a less agressive pad.
As always, do a search. This question comes up about 300 times a year.

Re: What are the BEST brake pads???
I have the www.brakeco.com 's steel braided lines, are they the best?, don't know (I think they are though), BUT, they do come in a 6 line kit (for ASR) and the end fitments are MUCH better than Earls....IMO....
as far as pads.....I run Hawks with my eradispeeds, but the squeeling is almost too much, but they do stop like a **** though....

Re: What are the BEST brake pads???
I first had Performance Friction Carbon Metallics on my '94 autox'er. They had the best peddal feel, stopped well, but had a warm up time that ment in the winter your first stop could be a little hairy, and they would shead metal off the pad and the rotor that pitted my rims and squeaked too much. I switched to Porterfield Carbon Kevlar (www.porterfield-brakes.com) that got rid of the warm up time and the squealing, pedal feel decrease slightly due to it being a more compressive pad, but not too bad. The dust did get worse but it didn't pit my rims. Stopping distance was about the same, if not better. I have Hawk Blues on my road race car, they stop great but the pad is way too aggressive for the street (i.e. kills rotors fast, a lot of warm up time, pad drag that will drive you insaine if your engine isn't screaming above 3000 to drown out the sound!) Hawk does make street and autocross compounds that i haven't tired yet but would be interested in the feedback of anyone that has.
