Default Kumho Ecsta Supra 712

How well do these Kumho's wear, and also how do they do in wet weather. Need information pretty quickly. Thanks in advance.

They're fine for a cheap tire. Don't expect too much & you won't be disapointed.

They wear OK, my son has a set on his '87 325is (215/40/17).

I have them on my daily beater a 91 Camaro RS

This is the first tire my 244,000 mile 305 TBI RS can break loose from a standing start. Hit them hard at a stop light and they will

They are excellent in the rain, in fact the best rain tire I've had on the RS ever. They handle well too and have a good ride. I'm very happy with them for the RS.

SLP is dumping their take off GSC's with rims for like $450 plus shipping about what the Kumho's will cost or a few dollars more.

I don't think they would be a good tire on my T/A

For dry traction, they are decent. For track use, you really have to heat them up or go with DRs. Where they really shine is wet traction. Even when they are worn they grip very well when the surface is wet. I have put over 40,000 miles on mine ... with occassional burnouts here and there. I would buy them again for the safety of wet traction, but for other conditions ... no.

As stated above, they are very good in wet weather; however, not that great on dry pavement. They have a good treadlife and thats due to the harder rubber compound which is the reason why they don't hook on dry pavement that well.

but for a cheap z rated tire that will last until i get wheels right?? i just hate even paying for tires when after graduation i am getting wheels so the Khumos are cheaper than the gsc's so i might as well get em.

If you want cheap ($99.00 i think) GS-C go to our sponsor SLP. These are new tires that have been removed from factory cars as a result of them installing after market rims

Damn, that's getting to be a popular avatar!

I have the 712's on my Z28, and I agree with comments above...they're an excellent wet tire, but break loose pretty easy in dry conditions, especially on asphalt surfaces.

That's the trade-off you get for a long tread life...and if you have 16 x 8 wheels, don't get the 245/50s, get the 255s. They look a lot better as the 245s are noticeably smaller looking than the Eagle GSCs were.

I just bought the 712's about 2 weekes ago. They were $363 shipped I believe. Much cheaper than the SLP GSC's. Since I live in Michigan and it's winter, I have no idea how well they hook on warm, dry pavement. They do pretty well on wet, cold pavement though and they are better in the snow than the stock GSC's were. From what I've seen so far, the Kumho's are better than the GSC's for daily driving purposes. I bought 245/50/16's. I thought about a 255 after I bought them though.

Hope that helps...

Thanks for the replies, looks like I will be getting a set when I put my new wheels on (going up to 17's).

Yesterday I was driving down the road at about 50 -- going around a curb -- and I looked back at something, not paying attention, and ran up on a curb. Popped both of my right tires -- Yokohama z rated. Anyway -- I replaced those with Khumos and I was suprised to find out that they grip better than the new yokohamas I had. -shrugs.

They are great rain tires but in cold weather the dry traction is not good at all. I've had pretty good luck with dry traction in warm conditions. I'm not buying them again though.

We just got dumped on with about 6" of snow and my Kumho's absolutely suck in it. The GSC's were much better. I wasn't looking for a snow tire. Just in case anyone else is ever doing any research...
