Default Do Hawk pads have good life?

I'm planning on getting some rotors and was deciding on what pads to get with them. Should I get some Hawks or should I just go with some OEM style pads?

Default Re: Do Hawk pads have good life?

I've found that with street tires, the stock pads are really fine. Actually I had been using the brand from the local parts chain (VIP) .... $29.95 lifetime warranty. I even used them for track days (until I started using race tires).

The stock brakes really are fine for use with street tires ... even on the track (depending on the characteristics of the track). You will find the ABS (slipping the tires) long before the brakes give out... lap after lap (again, depending on the track).

Once I put on the race tires & started using the extra grip in braking, I then went past the capabilities of the stock type pads (overheat & lose the brakes).

Next in line is was the Hawk HP pads. So far so good on those. I will not move up to another pad until I prove these are not enough.

You may want to consider a good rotor like one of these PPC pre-seasoned units..... tested & proven @ the track and every day.
