Default Sway removal

Wanting to know the best way to remove the sway bar on a 99 TA. I removed the parts that connect on the wheel side, but ran into problems on the DS under the frame. Suggestions?

I take it you removed the tires, right? there is a bracket that bolts to the drivers side mount. There are 2 sheet metal screws inside the fender well that hold the top of the bracket in place. You need to take them out after that the bracket should come out and you can undo the swaybar mount.

Hope this helps!

Why do you want it out? For the track?

Yep, don't drive the car around much, don't really plan to... Don't road race, or really have any interest in doing that with my car, just pretty much straight line. How does it affect our cars without the sway bar? I know on my dad's 68 GTO, it made a world of difference cornering, almost undriveable at higher speeds.

While your under there, you can remove the smog pump, if you already haven't. It's in the drivers side corner where you have to remove the screws to get to the bracket to get the sway bar out.

The front end on my car feels a little light around 140. It's been off for almost a year now

leave it on unless your replacing it with a better one. It makes a pretty good difference and not worth that few lbs of weight.

I think I'll take that recommendation. I don't need instability at higher speeds, and like you said, not worth the few lbs of weight.

Do what some guys do. Keep it on, But at the track Remove the tie rods and zip tie the swaybar up out of the way that way when you launch the fron end of the car will lift more transfering the weight of the car where you need it. Then when done put the tie rods back in and drive home. It should take no more than 20min to do and that way you have the best of both worlds. My .02

Now that is an excellent recommendation! Will have to think about that also.

I think you meant to say "end links" and not "tie rods"...... You'll probably want your tie rods hooked up at the track......

Just thought I'd clarify before someone actually tries that......

LMAO, I understood, fortunately I know how the front end of a car works, LOL. Thanks for clearing that up for the others! =)
