Default Traction...17" vs. 16"

What would have better traction, 245/50R 16 or 275/40R 17? Both Nitto drags. Most of you will say the 16" will because of the sidewall, but does it really wrinkle and flex enough to make up for the width of the tire? My friend has a WS6 six speed and can launch at 4K without loosing grip. I have an A4 with the 16" DRs and I have have trouble hooking with my converter just launching off at idle speeds. I'm doing 17x9.5 wheels in the future, and I was wondering if I should keep my 16s for the track or get 17" DRs for the new rims.

The Vig 3200 might be a little much for Nitto's, but a BIG,LONG burnout really makes the Nitto's hook way better than without much of one. WJ, <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
