Anyone ever had their rotors cadmium coated? I don't mean bought them coated, but sent them off to be coated. Reason I ask is because I'm going to be changing out my rotors soon and the rotors I'm looking at do not offer the cadmium coating and I do not want them to start looking rusty as they will without any coating. Where can rotors be sent to have them coated - anyone know or is there something else I can do besides having them powder coated then have to have them turned to remove the coating in the pad contact area??

Rob, if I may I'd like to add another question, I've seen a place that sells Zinc coated rotors. Are they good, bad or indifferent? Thanks.

I just paint mine now. I've gotten zinc and cad coated and that stuff just pits and fades and doesn't look like anything in a few months. I just paint mine over every 6 months or so, keeps it looking fresh, and the pads will clean off any overspray.

If your sole purpose is to prevent rust, one painting should do the job for the life of the rotor.

Especially given how quickly most of us swap rotors out.

I really want/like them to have that shiny look like the cadmium coating gives them, but guess I could always use a silver ceramic paint??

Yes my sole purpose it to keep them from getting rusty and looking like crap. They will be on my daily driver.
