275 or 285 for 9.5" rim. BFG KD any good or Nittos all around?

I'm getting some Fikse FM-5's 17x9.5 up front and 17x11 out back. I'm still stock and don't plan on having more than 375rwhp/375rwtq any time soon. I want to get Nittos all around because they are cheap and I know they hook but the KD's (not the KDW's) look badass. Its only an extra $200 over the Nittos. They put them on the Cobra R's so I would think they would hook with a 315 in the back but who knows. They are too expensive to be wearing quick. I know the Nitto 315 drag radials wear fast but at least they are cheap. Anyone here had them before? Did you like them? Did they hook? How well did they wear? I don't do any burnouts, stock rear.
Also, I think 275 looks just a bit too small on a 9" rim. Should I do 285/35 up front instead of 275/40 or will it look funny? It is 25.3" for the 285/35-17 vs. 25.7" for the 285/35-17. Which one should I get? Thanks.

275/40-17 would be equal to the stock tire height, but if you want to go wider, then go 285/40-17, which would only be .2" taller than stock, and would fit on a 9.5" rim.
As for the rears, any 315/35-17 tire is gonna be a little pricey. I know a few people who run Nitto drag radials all the time and like them.

I have the BFG T/A KD 275/40 all the way around and I would not even dream of putting another tires on the car. I'm upgrading my wheels and I am going to have 295/35 ZR18's in the back with the 275/40 ZR 17's in front. These tires are sticky as hell and they corner like its the only thing they know how to do. There are only two downsides: Wet traction is not the greatest and treadlife is relatively short, but if you are deciding between the KD's and the Nitto's then it should be no contest. KD's are hands down the best all around performance tire.

I know that this is an old thread but I thought it would be better than starting a new one all over. I just looked at the BFG KD 315/35/17 and it looks like a bad *** tire. I was wondering if it would fit on a stock SS rim. The guy at the tire place pulled up tires based on my car and it listed this tire making me think it should fit. I need some input before I decide to spend $600 on the rear pair. Thanks.

I'm pretty sure that a 335/35/17 won't fit on a stock rim as you really need an 11" wide wheel to make it work. Don't take that for the truth though, but I'm pretty sure. You might have to do some fender rolling if the car is lowered or the BFH to the inner fender wells.

Sorry, I miss read that. I appologise. That's another good question. I'm gonna have to say it might, but that's off the top of my head, nothing more. Hopefully Xsta will see this and respond again.

Nitto's seem to always run small. I wouldnt even try a BFG 315, as those thigns seem massive. My friends Nitto315's on his 11" rim almost seem undersized. I am running a 295 supercar tire on my 9.5 rims, and they look perfect IMO....the "ballooning affect" people talk about seem non-existant in my case.

I have 315 BFG KD's on 17x11 ZR1's in the rear. I've had trouble with the right tire rubbing the fender lip on dips(despite the lip being bent flush with the fender). I've tried several different suspension combinations, and even with Eibach Drag launch springs w/ KYB shocks(raised the vehicle in the rear 2") and an adjustable panhard bar(vehicle centered) the tire still will occasionally rub on that side. I'm now switching to Hotchkis springs and Koni adjustable shocks(and all new bushings front and rear). I may have to switch to a smaller tire if it gets worse now that the car will be lowered.

I have 315 nittos on my rear on a 9.5 ten spoke ss wheels. They do balloon just a little bit, but the seem to tuck good and look good. I like the way the 315's look when you walk up from the rear of the car though!! Looks so good.

i feel like adding my 02 cents but i love my tires. They are Firestone Firehawks. 275/40/17. They corner great, grab the street great (you can break them loose when you want), nice tread life, and wet weather traction is amazing.
