Default a-arms, k member question

What do these aftermarket parts provide besides weight loss? It seems crazy to spend around $1000 to drop under 40 lbs.

Save weight and give more adjustment on the alignment than stock k-member.

Car people generally care more about results than cost... How many folks on here have started off with heads/cam, then nitrous, then supercharger, then turbo, then back to heads/cam/nitrous? Set-up for rr/ax or for dragstrip? It seems we’re never happy until we’ve tried everything.

Keep in mind, it drops significant weight from the nose of the car, lightening AND equalizing weight distribution. Drop 40 lbs there, another 30-40 by relocating the battery, etc. and you can see how that can help make our cars handling a tad more neutral.

It also adds adjustability (as mentioned) AND clearance for other parts (turbos, headers, suspension, etc.) as well as easier access to some places.

It gives you a chance to easily clean the engine bay and redo everything. Besides, it looks COOL.

Not always additional clearance. Headers did not hit with stock K-member, and it did with the UMI piece.

We add a addtional gusset to the K-member to prevent failure on hard side loads. This gusset has cleared all the header set-ups we have tried to the exception of Jet Hots, the guesst just needed hit very lightly with a die grinder to prevent it from rubbing. I assume this is where the issue is? Something we are working on making better, but that is the only brand we have found.

Hope that helps,
Ryan

JBM has the Edelbrock Long tubes

Do you have to run the tubular control arms when converting to the UMI k-member?
