Default Need Help on getting car to hook!!!

alright guys, i am highly dissapointed with the way my car behaves on the street and at the strip. 02 SS A4 w/ following mods: SS3600, full bolt ons, 200 Wet shot, LCA's w/ relo. brackets, weld in SFC's, and Eibach Drag Spring s w/ right rear airbag. ET Street Radials 275/40R17@16psi Ok, at the 1/4 in high elev.(7000DA) i am only cutting 1.9 60fts. also, when i hit my 200 shot @ 4,500rpm in 1st gear, the car breaks the tires loose like crazy. And the launch seems to be hit or miss with this car. Sometimes it deadhooks out on the street and feels like its on the verge of pullin wheelie. But i rarely ever hook out on the track like that. is that normal???? also is a 1.9 60ft normal or sub-par with the above mentioned mods??? i also hate that when i hit the 200 shot all at once it will break the tires loose @60mph on the highway. Instead of going the progressive controller route, i would rather make my suspension a beast but i dont know where to go from here. How are some drag cars like mine leaving the line while pulling a wheelie and cutting sick *** sub 1.6 60 fts??? if some of yall can help in telling me what i am still missing suspension wise then that would be appreciated. Do i need to go down to a 15inch rim or what??? are those 17inch M/T street radials not that great for the track??? thanks everyone.

I have an A4 that wasn't hooking up. I went and got the BMR Adj. Torque arm and WOW!!! Launches straight and hard. I also installed the relocation bracket for it. About $600 with shipping. Probably cheaper for an M6. Then I would probably try some wider tires. Hope this helps you out.

If your car is lowered with the stock torque arm then your pinion angle will be off. After I got an adjustable torque arm with the pinion angle set at -1.5 degrees. I started hooking better and some vibration went away at highway speeds.

I pull 1.6 60's all day. First try backing your tire pressure down to 13psi , you have too much stank off the line, make sure you recheck your pressure every pass, by the time you stage your car and make a pass your pressure varies 1-3psi. 2nd do you footbreak, tranny break or just stab it? I foot break w/3500 stall at 3400, then stab it, I pull the front wheels (Z06 17'') about an 1'' . 3rd I dont run N20 yet, but what kind of ETs are you running, try to jet down a little until you are tuned in.

Good Luck!

i do footbrake it to around 3000 on a SS3600. Could it be that the only 2 tracks i have been at so far arent laying traction compound or prepping their track?? cause both are ghetto *** tracks that dont see much action. i am wondering if that has something to do with it. cause i have heard of everyone griping at those 2 tracks. second, i think maybe it would help to go down to a 15 inch rim so i can have some tires that have more sidewall. Will going from stock DeCarbons to something like QA1 drag shocks make a big diff??? thanks for the help so far guys

how the hell do you footbreak it at 3400 with the 3500 stall, My tires break loose way before that and ive got a 3600. I know how tq convertors work but it doesnt seem righ that youd be able to hold it that high since the actual stall speed is a factor of both load and the rpms.

Its all about how you stage your car. When I break the beam, I barly tickle it. Then if your car decides to creep forward you have about 7inches till it breaks the other side. By the way 3400 is my converters limit for foot break. Also VHT makes or breaks your launch.
