I do *not* recommend doing this. From personal experience, it's not a good idea - poor ride and handling.

If your going to go the cheap way, I recommend KYB AGX's there pretty good. I have them on my car, and you can adjust the ride and everything.

I would say to save up your money to afford new shock and put it all in at the same time. Do it right the first time so you have no regrets.

I had stock shocks with Eibach Sportlines. It turned pretty darn good but it was a really bouncy ride otherwise. I would definatly reccomend doing shocks and I wouldnt really reccomend sportlines because they are a little too low and you`ll hit bump stops like mad.

Seriously, don't do it!! When I first lowered my car I only had 3,800 miles on the stock shocks so I just kept them and installed the lowering springs. The car rode very good............... at first. That summer I traveled the Long Haul on the Hot Rod Power Tour from Michigan to TX and Back and with only 8,000 miles on the shocks they were completely worn out. I couldn't wait to get home and get some new shocks ASAP.

I now run the same springs but with Koni DA shocks and the car feels great!

So don't waste your time with the stock shocks, they suck to begin with and will quickly be completely destroyed with higher spring rates found with lowering springs.

tonight I noticed it looked like I have aftermarket shocks under my car. when I bought it he said it had "custom air shocks dropped 2"." Question is, can I now install lowering springs and not have to worry much about getting new shocks?

Most likely no. Sounds like he did not know what he was talking about IMO. What do the shocks look like? (color, stampings, adjustment *****, air hoses or valve stems on them?)

I've never hear of "Custom air shocks" except for the ones from AIR RIDE which require an onboard compressor, valving and gauges. You would definately know if you had those or not so, no don't run what you have and get some quality shocks before lowering. You can thank all of us later.

Alright. Appreciate it! I couldn't tell what the shocks said on them, but they were red. We were in the middle of changing a clutch so didn't really think about it.
