Question about UMI C5 brake conversion
So i really wanna get this kit, but i dont want nice new calipers and my stock old ugly lookin calipers in the rear. What have u all done, and is there even a C5 rear caliper replacement available?

Make sure you have a few fresh blades for your sawzall and make sure you dont let the fuild run out of you master cyl when doing the conversion. I just did this a few weeks back and love it! Piece of cake.

I painted both my New C5 front and stock Camaro rear calipers to match. To "save" the CORVETTE" lettering, I learned a trick of using Elmers Glue as a "liquid mask". I first painted all the letters carfully with a heavy coat of Elmers and let dry. Sprayed the color over the complete caliper, then removed the Elmers from the letters and clear coated the entire assembly.
A little tedious, but look fantastic. I know people have painted the entire thing and sanded off the letters but the nice clean machined look of the letters gets goofed up IMHO.

Oh and here is how I cut the "ear" off. Ground all the edges smooth and coated with POR 15.

Anyone doing this mod, may want to use LT1 spindles like I am doing. You can then save your LS1 spindles if you ever want to go back to them or sell them along with your LS1 brakes for some good money ($150 on the average). LT1 spindles are probably cheap as nobody needs them.

The 14.5 Came From BAER. Both The 27lbs And 23lbs Came From Mid American Motor Works. Mid American Is A Supplier Ofcorvette Parts. Trust Me I Don't Have A Dog In This Fight. I'm Just Trying To Pass Along Helpful Information That I Got From Reliable Sources.

Good info, i think im gonna end up painting my the new c5 calipers and rear stock calipers to match gloss black and get some brembo blanks. Although i dont want corvette lettering. Is there anyway to get rid of the corvette lettering all together? Can it just be sanded off?

do a google fore kore3 and you'll find a company that sells the corvette calipers without the lettering. Its the exact same caliper for the same compnay but without the logo. Actually costs less because of it. Its what Im running on my car now.

Yes, they can be sanded off. You can also buy the "camaro" vinyl stickers on ebay or the 23b for like <$10
