No problem guys. Now if we could just get a certain suspension wizard to release his spring rates we would have all the common ones.

Just kidding Sam!

That's good information, but didn't SLP change the oem Z28 springs out for a different spring on the SS's from 98-02?

I'd like to know if there's a difference between the oem z28 springs and the standard SS springs and if so, what is it?

OK. I looked around a little more at other posts and it looks like the answer is no.

I didn't think the strano spring rates were any secret. Are they?

Um, I never hid them, they are out in the public domain, and I released them when production springs went out.

I'm an idiot. I just remembered when the springs were in the "testing" phase you didn't seem to want to give out the specifics. Sorry for spreading misinformation.

Here is a good link.

From what I understand, a 292 lbs/in spring compresses 1" for every 292 lbs, but I have been wrong before. (see above post)

Rate is the amount of force it takes to compress the spring 1". And that energy is stored in a compressed spring, and will be expelled when the spring is extended. Hence the reason we have shocks, and why lowering springs need more shock control.

I do wish to add on thing. Stock springs while 292 or so (they vary a little) in front, are under a tremendous amount of pre-load. Just sitting assembled they are compressed some 4-5". They are soft, but also long. And lowering springs have very little preload which has to do with why the lowering sprinsgs when used with proper dampers don't ride as badly as many think. Certainly much firmer, but actually less harsh at times (again, the shocks have a lot to do with this as well).
