Default need help in process of installing torque arm

in the instructino from umi it says to put a jack on the pumpkin or solid part of the rear end to help the rear end face upward while you have the torque arm out...

there is a "shield" on the bottom of the pumkin and i dont know exactly where to jack up..

someone that has done this please chime in as to if its ok to jack up from the shield or should i jack it up somewhere else..

thanks

Unless I'm missing something, there should be no "shield" at the bottom of the pumpkin. Is it the brake line shield that should be located at the top of the pumpkin mistakenly installed at the bottom...?

I don't know what the shield thing is all about either; I've never seen one. But if there is something in the way, jack up the body high enough then rest the axles on two jack stands. Wheel ramps are good to use aswell.

You need to be careful when removing the torque arm. There is the possibility of the car's springs rotating the axle assembly without the arm to prevent it.

Poly bushing can go in two ways, one of them is wrong. The
one I got with my UMI arm wanted lettering toward the rear
of the car. Then it only needed "firm persuasion" (a pair of
vise-grips) to close over the bushing.

That clamshell is a bitch to get closed. I've got the BMR piece (tubular nose). It took me 3 nights, 4 hours per night, to get it on. I just couldn't get the top bolt started. Never want to do that again.
