Default 6 PT rollbar and/or SFCs

I have 98 TA six speed convertible I plan on doing a Head/cam package soon and i was wondering if anyone had an experience with running SFC in addition to a 6pt rollbar. I have people telling me both ways. Some say the 6pt will stiffen it up and i wont have to worry about SFC because the bar itself will tie the chassis together. then others say i need subframe connectors because the bar doest directly attach to the subframes laterally. I'm going to dragrace the car so I am gettin the 6pt i just need to know if the SFCs are necessary

If you already have plans for a 6pt then I wouldnt bother with SFC's.

Don't worry about it. In fact, you can buy some extra bars and attach them on the floor between the main hoop and the forward down bar. It'll be a subframe connector inside the car. Seen more than a few RR guys do that trick to not lose ground clearance.

SFC's are not necessary with a 6-point inside the car. It just adds unnecessary weight.

I too say both would just add unnecassary weight. Just do the 6pt roll bar and don't worry about the SFC's. That's another ~40 lbs saved if you skip them.

the rollbar part behind the driver side and pass side seats only connects through the subframe from the peice of sheet metal that is attached to the floor pan from the subframe. the front does go through the subframe. but it isnt direct front and back. thats why i said do both. i understand the over kill. another thing too is if he isnt using cromoly he isnt worried about weight? plus its a convertable. there heavy to begin with(dont know if hes using cromoly or not)

Just because he isnt using chromoly doesnt mean he isnt worried about weight. Not everyone can afford the added cost. Plus, since he does have a convertible he should only use what he really needs, the 6-point will be fine. I understand the rear doesnt connect directly through the subframe, but the 6-point is plenty to stiffen the chasis.

He mentioned drag racing so I would assume he is worried about weight, and just because his car is heavy already doesnt mean he should forget about weight and put things on he doesnt need. If that were the case I guess he might as well throw 500 pounds of stereo equipment in the back too.

I like 00 Trans Ram idea. For the cost of the tubing i'll give it a try because to pass tech im gonna need the 6pt anyway when i break 12.99 (ha that wont take much @ 13.4 now) I'll save a little loot on the SFCs. thanks for the advice guys dont have many fellow ls1 techies in south jersey (we put the "garden" in garden state ).
