Default Upper padhard brace removal? For duals

I am doing a true dual exaust set up on my ta over the axle, with 3" pipe. I have heard of people removing the upper brace to make room for the dual pipes to fit. My car is a weekend driver and it will see the drag strip a few times a year, no road corses. will it be ok with out the brace? I know bmr makes the relocation kit but i dont realy want to spend the 200 bucks on it rite now.
