Default Brake ?

just trying to figure out what i need for rotors. the car is mostly street with a little strip thrown in here and there. so my ? is can i get away with stock calipers and drilled and slotted rotors like powerstop or would it be a better idea to get a big brake kit for the front?

depends on ur budget.. big brake kits (just front rotors/calipers etc..) go for 2 grand MINIMUM. I wouldnt do drilled and slotted rotors either, waste of money if u ask 99% of the people here (performance wise that is... they look awsome but thats all they'll do, u wont stop any better and they will chew through ur pads like theres no tomorrow, and the drilled rotors are prone to crack easily). id say just get hawk pads and brembo blank rotors (maybe slotted rotors, those look nice too) and maybe some stainless brake lines and new fluid if ur up for the work and ull be golden. Big brake kits are big money, but then agian u kinda get what u pay for. like i said its all about the budget. check the brake review sticky and that will give u an idea on whats involved here.

I 100% agree w delinquent543. Drilled/slotted rotor r 4 looks, will not help you, unless eating up pads quicker is your goal. Our cars have good brakes. Make sure all is working correctly, bleed/swap your fluid, and get quality performace/street pads.

Unless your rotors are warped it isn't necessary. Do a brake upgrade as a whole or just leave the stockers.

Personally, I am now convinced that better pads are where you get the best performance gain. Big brake kits are cool and all but are probably only beneficial for serious road racing. I can't say that my Powerslots made any performance improvements, other than not warping, but the ceramic pads did.

Yup, quality pads and keeping the fluid fresh is all you need. When the rotors go, buy quality blanks and keep on braking. IMHO, I would buy ones that are one piece (what was that brand?) rather than the two piece units that come stock. But the bling bling is not needed at all.
