Default Brake problem

I just got my motor back it the car and my brakes just aren't right. When i push on the brakes they go right to the floor and i finaly get some kind of stopping but i really got to push on it. I had the rear out of the car for a while and the brake master went dry. I tried bleeding the system and it didn't help. Do you think the brake master went bad from being dry? It didn't have fluid for about a week.

lets start off by saying 'anything is possiable', if the master has been dry it may need rebuilding. When you bleed the system are you bleeding the master on the vehicle or did you bench bleed it?

I'm just bleeding the brakes. I did it again tonight and it didn't do any good. I think I'm just going to replace the master and see what that does.

I'm going to say that you have air in the ABS module and you'll need someone with a Tech II tool (the dealer) to bleed it. They have to cycle the ABS solenoids to get the air out of them. Otherwise, when the abs cycles, it just puts air back into the system. You could bleed it enough times to get all the air out (in theory at least), but you may just need to see a dealer and get it done right with the tools.

Good luck.

Sounds like air in the abs. Do a few abs stops to let the pump cycle and then rebleed the brakes. If that doesnt work take it to a dealer so they can do it the right way

With the 9" in the rear my ABS is disabled because it doesn't have the ABS sensers on it. Is there any other way to cycle the pump?

I would try bench bleeding the master before you take it to a dealer

How do you bench bleed the master? When I bleed the brakes it looks good, soild fluid stream, no air bubbles.

sorry, Havent been able to get to a computer. to bench bleed the master you need to pull if off the car and manually bleed in on the bench, use flexable tubing so you can cycle the brake fluid back into the resivior...
