Question Bled Brakes.....Brakes still soft??

I just recently bled my brakes the old fashioned way....(passenger rear, driver rear, passenger front, driver front) and for some reason my brakes seem a little softer than before the brake job....Any ideas on how to fix this??

This was my first time changing the fluid on this car, but I have done it before on another car with no problems....

Any help would be great!!!!

when i upgraded my brakes it took me and my buddy 3 times to bleed the brakes and get any air pockets out. We have bled brakes before so we were shocked it took so many times. We found that taking the car out on the road and hitting the brakes hard enough so that the ABS activates and then bleed the brakes worked the best.

Yeah i was thinking about doing it again. When we did it, we went around the car twice, pretty thoroughly. Then we put my rims on and took a drive. It was noticeably softer than before...

Any more suggestions??

Are you doing it with the car on or off? I have found that they bleed better with the car RUNNING if you got power brakes.

Really?? I have never tried, or thought about what kind of difference it would make.... I guess maybe I will try that next time. I just hate going through new brake fluid when it might not be necessary....

First, why did you bleed them? Did you open the system? if not there should have been no need to bleed unless you either opened the system/ changing out all the brake fluid, other than that doing pads should not require you to bleed the system.

I guess I should have added that I took my calipers off to paint them. I also don't think the fluid has ever been changed. That is why I bled them...

It is recommended that you change brake fluid anually. Exactly how did you bleed your brakes, meaning what technique?
However if you have done the job before and things have turned out fine then you should know what you're doing. Thus I am puzzled by your post????????

One more thing, don't mean to insult your ability but since we can't see it through our computer screens.
Did you make sure that you put the calipers back on the right side....with bleeder screw up? If not you'll never get it bleed out.

I fixed the problem. I took my caliper off and noticed that the bolt had one of the holes plugged from the old fluid.....thank god that is over....
