Default What is a good price for roll cage install?

Just like the title says, I am just wondering what an average cost is for having a 6 point weld in cage put in. It is Jig notched.

Also should I take it to a painter or not for a nice black to match the car.

I would certainly take it to a painter and have it painted. There will be small places where you just can't get a spray nozzle.

Realize that you need to mask off about 6" or more away from every place where it's gonna be welded. So, whatever use for paint, have plenty on hand to finish the job around the welds once it's in the car.

No welder is gonna weld the cage in the car with ANY interior in the car around where he is gonna weld. So, you will have to remove seats, carpet and sail panels as a minimum.

Welding a 6 point, floor plates and all the joints will take 12-20 hours depending on if it's TIG or MIG welded and the amount of prep work he has to do. Removing all that damn body seam filler is a royal PITA.

TIG makes a tidier, looking weld and doen't generate the heat a MIG torch does. But it takes more time.

And if I recall doesn't everything added to the vehicle that is welded have to be TIG if you are faster than some odd time in the quarter as well?

I don't know what the shoip rate is for a quality welder in your area is.

1000 seems a lot high, though. You can get a nice custom 6 point cage done here in Texas for $1500.

And made from a lot stouter material than that ERW tubing Wolfe uses.

there is one guy in Tampa that I would trust making a custom 6 point, or welding in a Wolf cage. I just wanted to try to figure out what a good price is.

So what should I be looking at for the actuall install price.

I want to do this once and do it right.

Thanks Mitchntx- the roll cage and a Th-400 will be going in the car in 2 months. Then saving up for a new motor.

Time to actually go fast now.
