Default Need Suspension Advice

I just bought a 93 camaro Z28 from dsmawd350. I love the car but the exhaust scrapes alot since i live in winnipeg manitoba and our roads are not the greatest. There are Eibach Sportlines in the front and the stock springs in the back because of the larger tires that were on it.

It has Pacesetter ceramic-coated longtube headers into 3” mandrel bent true duals w/ dumped Magnaflow bullets.

Wondering if i should get stiffer springs that only lower it 1" or .8" or something. Or change up the exhaust somehow so it is higher. What would you recommend? Input would be appreciated!

**** I didnt know he sold that thing I guess thats why I didnt see it around last friday. I would put some springs on it that arent soo low like some hotchkis or strano's. What wheels do you have on it now? He use to have some black zr1's on it I liked the look of it then although im sure it wont hook for crap with those.

Is that the whole exhaust? I don't think that's street legal, not even in Canada. The stock exhaust is tucked up real nice against the body, unlike your exhaust which hangs down a few inches. If Canada's laws are lax enough, I'd go with another exhaust that tucks up real nice. You could do a 3.5" pipe no problem.

it's got the stock wheels on it now cause i didn't want the pro stars that came with it. In the future i will prolly put some fat torque thrust II's on it once these tires are done.
I'm pretty sure the exhaust wouldn't pass safety anyway because you can smell the gas comin up when idleing and apparently you can't have it exit that close to the door. I just love the sound of it and don't want to change it for that reason.

You can keep the mufflers you're using, but a Y pipe would not be a dual exhaust. You could try an experiment, like using another y-pipe over the rear end so that you have 2 exhaust exiting. There'll just be 1 pipe that goes along the drive shaft. You can use the mufflers you use now and it'll dump after the rear axle. You can even put in some high flow cats and probably pass emissions.

This is not a full dual design. Actually it is if you think of it as having a really long X for an X-pipe. This will probably help with the sound. The sound will probably be deeper in tone since the volume of the exhaust has been increased (like comparing a trumpet to a tuba).

Thats not a bad idea. I just want to make sure the thing is loud as hell and has a nice deep tone to it while clearing the pavement and passing safety.

Has anyone used BMR lowering springs? Whats a good spring rate for road use? I plan to take it to the track a couple times for sure but it's gonna be more of a road race car than a drag car. Spring rate on the BMR's are 100 lb/in. Found them at Maryland speed website.

You couldn't go wrong with Strano 1.2" drop springs.

I think I read that his aren't as stiff as the competition, but that the competition's rates are too stiff. You can go to his website and click on the button that says "more..." and it will show you handling packages for drag use or street use.

The 360lb rate and low ride height of the front Sportline springs are doing you no favors. A stiffer spring will help keep the car from dipping so low on bumps. A better shock will do the same thing. The lower the ride height the stiffer the springs you need to keep from bottoming out real hard. What you might try is some aluminum spring spacers or the poly spacer that fits into the coils. This will increase the ride height and spring rate. If it rides much better, then have the alignment set for this new ride height.
